For beginner guitar students, the Bbm chord is one of the most elusive and difficult chords to master. Unfortunately, such is the difficulty of playing this chord; many people get completely discouraged and never try again.

The BBM is the ubiquitous “Blackbird” tuning, a chord progression that many artists have used over the years. Its most popular adoption, however, has been in the blues genre. The “Bbm” tuning uses the root, fifth, and octave of E minor and a minor third, which is essentially the same as E-A-G in standard tuning.
